£120.00

This beautiful frontispiece from an Iranian 16th century Quran. The Qur'an commences with a lavish gold-ground medallion decorated with flowers including the title of the manuscript. The following double page contains elegantly illuminated frontispieces for the first sura, "Surat al-Fatihah" (illustrated on p. 103 in this volume) and the beginning of the second "Surat al-Baqara." They are executed in blue, gold, and other colours.

Learning this detailed page will help you understand the basics of a frontispiece and the art of Islamic illumination. We will study this gorgeous page with all the elements that are within it from the borders. Please note calligraphy will not be covered in this course.

The fee is for all four sessions, recordings and pdfs. All sessions will be recorded and you will get access to all sessions for a whole year via this website.
