Hi everyone, I am so excited to be bringing you the annual golden flower challenge again! I can’t believe this is our third year doing it together. As you know, I just finished a short botanical illustration and taxonomy class, so I am very excited to put in some of the tips I learnt into practice.

The golden flower challenge is a good activity to do together as a creativity community to share this experience and to improve our skills! I will be doing it alongside you as well :) This is going to be a fun way to welcome the upcoming beautiful Spring season with this flower painting challenge! March brings us the Spring season and what's a better way to welcome Spring other than with golden flowers?

Join me from Monday 18th March for 14 days

(until the 31st of March) to paint one golden flower per day.

The flower designs are provided in this post. I highly encourage the use of sparkle. The gouache gold will be perfect for this! The main point is to paint the flower in either gold or colour and to outline it. I might shade some of the flower, but I am not going to make that a criteria. I want this challenge to be about practicing EVERYDAY for 14 days and that will really help your hand and mind to understand the shapes and the possible simple colour combination. The scale (size) is up to you. You can make it as small or as big as you like. Though the smaller it is the easier I feel. Though not tiny!

If you can't make time on these dates you can still join when it's good for you. I will still come have a look if you mention me or tag me.

Understand the floral language in Persian biomorphic patterns
Practice your painting skills.
Practice ink and brush outlining.
Satisfy your soul with some art! (A golden flower a day keeps the doctor away?)

Things you can do with your flower:

Turn them into a card
and give them to your friends and family for all the upcoming occasions
Hang them in your house
I am sure any house would use a series of sparkly flowers!
Add them to other creative projects
Golden flowers are so versatile and you can find some use for them or include them in other creative projects.

Tools: Printed Flower Design, Tracing Paper, Pencils, brushes, real gold or gouache gold, watercolours and/or gouache colours.

I highly recommend using what you already have at home, but if you really want to get something new or want to use the same things I will be using then checkout these recommendations below. This list is made of the stuff I usually use. You don’t have to buy new art supplies if you already have some. Always try to use what you have. You can also check your local art supply store for deals and other options.
